Shakti Dance Teachers Association UK
Shakti Dance Teachers Association (SDTA-UK)
The UK Shakti Dance Teacher’s Association was set up in 2009 ( also known as SDTA-UK), and is the governing body for any shakti dance teachers based in the UK. The aim of SDTA-UK is to provide support to teachers, to the teachings and to Shakti Dance itself as it evolves and grows. Through the creation of SDTA-UK we are formalising this discipline and making it more readily available and accessible to the growing interest for Shakti Dance in the United Kingdom.
There are currently a dozen teachers qualified in the UK, and more also in Europe, but as this is still a fairly new discipline, any teachers qualifying as practitioners of Shakti Dance are current forerunners in taking this beautiful practice globally, and spreading its fragrance around the world.
A new group of teachers have recently been certified and are now teaching in the UK. The next teacher training course is planned in the UK for 2011. Being a yoga teacher or dance teacher is not a prerequisite to be able to start training.
